It is Back to School Time!

You nailed it this year with the cool back pack, new supplies, and latest fashion trends. Your kids are sure to be top of the class, so don’t forget to schedule them a comprehensive eye exam.  August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month.  According to the National Commission on Vision and Health 25% of children aged 5-17 have a vision problem and 35% have never had an eye exam.

Children with vision impairments face academic, social and athletic obstacles.  Early detection of vision problems gives children the tools to learn to the best of their ability which positively affects their behavior and performance in school.

Be aware of signs that may indicate your child is having some vision problems, such as wandering eyes, disinterest in reading, squinting or complaints of headaches.  Optikk 30A  offers children’s eye exams and binocular vision evaluations.  Set a good health example for your children, and make sure the whole family starts off the school year with an eye exam, including mom and dad.

Safety is very important when discussing eye health with your children. Eye injuries are the leading cause of blindness in children, most of these are sports-related.  Protective eyewear should always be worn while playing sports or taking part in recreational activities, and children should always play with age-appropriate toys, avoiding sharp edges and protruding parts. Shop our optical boutique for the latest fashion in youth glasses and sunglasses.

At Optikk 30A, we offer comprehensive eye care for the whole family. We are committed to offering you the latest in eye examination, emergency services, same day care and fashionable eyewear.

Our Future Looks Bright

Our One Year Anniversary celebration was the perfect way to recognize not only a successful year in business as South Walton’s premier optical boutique, but to also thank all of the community patrons, businesses, and leaders who have made it happen.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude to our patients, supporters at Sowal.com, The Walton Sun, Debbie Hannan of DH Catering, Jordan Crowder Photography,  Anne et Valentin, and all of our friends (especially our furry ones) at Dog-Harmony. As we kick off an exciting second year in business, we look forward to continuing to provide our community with comprehensive eye care, emergency services, same day service and fabulous eyewear.

The Anne et Valentin Trunk show was a huge success. Florian Devincenzi was on location to help guests pick the perfect pair of unique eyewear to fit their personality. Watching Florian in action was astonishing!  His knowledge and background in luxury eyewear allowed him to assess each guest and immediately pick the perfect shape, size, and color frames to complement their face and skin tone. The Anne et Valentin line of handmade, luxury eyewear has something unique and perfect for every face.

We are pleased to announce that Optikk 30A donated $700 of the proceeds from the Anne et Valentin Trunk Show to Dog-Harmony, a local non-profit dog rescue whose focus is on training and support for humans and dogs before, during, and after adoption. Dog-Harmony’s ultimate goal is to match the right home with the right dog to insure a happy lifelong relationship. Nancy Bown, Founder of Dog-Harmony, along with many volunteers and board members joined us in our celebration. Even Sasha, one of their rescues, made an appearance for guests to see first-hand how special our furry friends are at Dog-Harmony. Be sure to check us out on Instagram and Facebook to hear about some really cool events we will be hosting at our location in Red Fish Village. We will be announcing the date for Pause for Paw Yoga Class soon, which is a donation based yoga class benefitting Dog-Harmony.

We cannot thank our community and friends enough for embracing us and welcoming us to South Walton! We look forward to seeing you soon!

National Sunglasses Day is Monday June 27th

It is National Sunglasses Day!

This summer is going to be a hot one, so whether you are cooling off in the water, headed offshore, or cruising 30A with the top down, make sure you are wearing UV protective eyewear.

Sunglasses are not only a fabulous fashion accessory,   they also protect our precious eyes from the sun’s harmful Ultra Violet rays.  As you know UV radiation is damaging to your eyes and not wearing the proper UV protective eyewear can contribute to cataract formation, macular degeneration, skin cancer, pterygium a.k.a surfer’s eye, and the oh so dreaded …wrinkles!

When you are considering a purchase of new sunglasses, make sure that they block 100 percent of UV rays. In addition you will want to add polarized lenses to block unwanted glare which can degrade your vision and make it seem hazy.  The views here on the Emerald Coast are breathtaking, polarized lenses help you see objects more clearly and colors more vividly. Fishermen and seafarers know that polarized lenses are the only way to see what lies beneath the surface of our emerald green waters making them a must-have watersport accessory.

Reward yourself and protect your eyes with a new pair of luxury sunglasses from Optikk 30A.  We are proud to offer sunglasses from Maui Jim, Costa, Anne et Valentin, Etnia Barcelona and Gotti and would be happy to help you find your perfect fit.

Need prescription sunglasses?

We would love to help you treat yourself.
